Dresden Elementary School is a Family First School
Dresden Elementary School has been recognized as a 2018 DCSD Family Friendly School by the Parent and Family Engagement department, a part of the Office of Accountability.  The winners were selected because they exhibited strong partnerships with families to improve student achievement through high-quality customer service, an inviting and easy to navigate environment, positive school culture, and courteous staff.

Cross Keys Cluster Parents & Community Members (Redistricting UPDATE)

The DeKalb County School District is working to upgrade aging school facilities and expand school district capacity in our area to accommodate a rapidly growing student population.  Expansion is occurring through both expansion of current school buildings, and construction of new schools.  There will be a 3-part public input process this fall for 3 elementary schools in Region 1 and Region 2 (Austin, Cross Keys North, and Pleasantdale).  Visit www.dekalbschoolsga.org/redistricting for more information and an overview of this process.

For each elementary school, there are a series of 3 distinct meetings – Meeting 1 (big-picture input,) Meeting 2 (feedback on several options,) and Meeting 3 (feedback on a refined option.)  There is an opportunity through October 6th to submit on-line comments (“Round 1 Community Survey”) relevant to the content of Round 1 meetings.  To answer this survey, go to www.dekalbschoolsga.org/redistricting, scroll to the top of the page, and click on the tab for the elementary school for which you’d like to answer the survey.  On that school-specific tab, you’ll also find maps with specific planning units (#s of students in geographic areas), and land use maps.  A video of the presentation given at Round 1 meetings can also be found on each page.

Austin Elementary School:  All 3 meetings will be held at Dunwoody High School 7-8:30 p.m.  9/26, 10/23, 11/20.

Cross Keys North Elementary School:  All 3 meetings will be held at Chamblee Charter High School 7-8:30 p.m.  9/25, 10/16, 11/19.

Pleasantdale Elementary School:  All 3 meetings will be held at Lakeside High School 7-8:30 p.m.  9/24, 10/15, 11/18.

These are big steps forward in upgrading and expanding school facilities!  Come out to the meetings if you’re interested in the future boundaries of these 3 elementary schools.

KaBoom Playground at Dresden Elementary School

In July of 2018, DESEF was awarded a grant for a brand-new playground by KaBOOM!, the national non-profit dedicated to giving all kids the childhood they deserve through great, safe places to play. KaBOOM! matches high-need community organizations with funding partners to design and build a dream playground. We were fortunate to be paired with Cox Enterprises as our funding partner. On October 26, 2018, over 200 volunteers came out, despite pouring rain, to build the new playground in less than 6 hours! It was an amazing day!
