Join us for our Nineteenth Annual Celebration of Read Across America on March 2, 2017. This is the biggest one-day literacy celebration in the U.S. Read Across America day was started to honor Dr. Theodore Geisel, better known to millions as Dr. Seuss, on his birthday. This year would have been his 113th birthday!
For the nineteenth year, the National Education Association (NEA) is the primary sponsor of this wonderful reading event. We hope it will help to motivate children to read the way the late Dr. Seuss did. Supporting NEA are 50 national organizations including Target, the NAACP, the American Library Association, the National PTA, and the YMCA.
Here at Dresden Elementary, we have had the pleasure of welcoming U.S. Representative Johnny Isaacson, Former State Superintendent Linda Schrenko, and our Superintendent of the DeKalb County School District, Dr. R. Stephen Green, to read to our children. DeKalb County School Administrators, Dresden Partners in Education, AT&T, Everybody Wins, Dunwoody Rotary Club, and friends of Dresden’s staff members, have continuously supported us.
